Earliest Known Baldock Ancestor: was baptised at Welton le Wold in 1735(see below) and married Frances Campion at North Elkington, Lincs in 1762. From her burial at St. Martins, Welton le Wold, Frances' birth date is estimated at around 1740. Their daughter, Jane Baldock (baptised 1780, Welton le Wold) married (b. ~1773) in 1798 at Welton le Wold. Descent is via George Hewson (baptised 1811 Ashby de la Launde, Lincs., m. Frances Diass 1838 Raithby cum Hallington), William Hewson (b. 1839 Raithby, m. Mary Hildred 1859 Binbrook), to my paternal grandfather George Hewson (b. 1860 Claxby by Alford, d.1941 Wainfleet). See Hewson pedigree for more details

General Information
I have been given details of a Baldock family at Kelstern and for some time believed that my William Baldock was the one baptised at Kelstern in 1734 to Walter Baldock and Bethia (nee Drewry). However, my attention was then drawn to this rather odd baptism entry in the Welton le Wold PRs:

If you click on this picture to enlarge it you will see that the events for 1732 at Welton run straight onto those for 1737, on the same page and in the same hand. However, in another hand, written vertically on the page alongside the 1737 entries is: “Wm. S. of Dan: Baldock Bapt Feby. 11th 1735/6” There is what appears to me to be a lower case ‘L’ written over the 5 of 1735, followed by the 6, so I don’t know whether this is a correction or an indication that 1735 was Lady Day dating. If the latter, then it might imply that this note was made after the calendar changed in 1752.

I have no candidate marriages or baptisms for William's father Daniel, but there is a marriage at Welton of a Daniel Baldock to Sarah Barret in Welton in 1713. These could possibly be William's grandparents perhaps?
