Earliest Known Ancestors: was baptised to Joseph and Ann in 1797 at Newbold Verdon, Leicestershire and married Mary Keatley there in 1815. Descent is via their son John who married . See Bray Pedigree for more.

General Information
John Bradbury junior is listed as Framework knitter, b. Cadeby in the 1851 census. He is not at home in 1861 (by which time wife Ann is in Stoke Golding). In 1871 John is in Stoke Golding with his family, aged 47, Stocking maker, b. Newbold Verdon. In 1881 he is in Sharnford, framework knitter, b. Newbold Verdon and in 1901 he is in Leicester, Glove Hand Hosiery worker, b. Newbold Verdon. All entries indicate a birth date of 1823/24. John Bradbury senior and wife Mary have two children in Newbold Verdon (1816 and 1818), then Joseph in Sutton Cheney in 1827, then two more children in Cadeby (1831 and 1834). If they are the parents of my John, then I need to find out where they were between 1818 and 1827.

Note also a marriage at Newbold Verdon of Thomas Bott to Hannah Keetley in 1813. Hannah Bott appears on 1851 census at Newbold Verdon, aged 54, b. Newbold Verdon, implying a birth date of around 1797. Ref:HO107/2083 folio 16. Possibly a sister to Mary Keatley. There are Keetley baptisms on the IGI at Newbold Verdon: John 1778 and Ann 1780 to Samuel and Elizabeth, followed by Ann 1803 to John & Mary. I wonder if there is a gap in the records or whether the family moved away?

I have failed to find a death index entry for Mary Bradbury or Bradberry in the Market Bosworth district between 1841 and 1851(there are possibles in Ashby de la Zouch and in Nuneaton). Also LRFHS Burials vol. 2 covers Newbold Verdon 1813 - 1931 and has no suitable entry for Mary. However, Cadeby is not covered so is the next place to look.

Next Steps
1. Look in Surrounding parishes for baptism of John Bradbury junior. (Already searched: Cadeby, Newbold Verdon, Sutton Cheney, Kirkby Mallory, Market Bosworth).

2. Burial of Mary (Keatley) Bradbury not found in Newbold Verdon or Cadeby MI's, but have still to check PRs.

3. There is a marriage at Ratby by Licence of Joseph Bradbury of Thornton and Elizabeth Gibson in 1777. No sign of any baptisms to this couple at Ratby on IGI though. Worth looking up the Licence details.
