Peacocks are birds that we are used to seeing in ornamental gardens but, almost like animals in a zoo or on a farm, I don't usually think of them as part of the wildlife of the area.

However, when this female appeared in the garden from nowhere, I just had to dash out and get a few pictures.

The bird seemed quite unfazed by my presence. It effortlessly flew up to perch on a 6ft high brick wall and posed there while I took pictures.

When, having got the shots, I turned away, it too turned away and dropped down the other side of the wall.

Will we ever see its like again, I wonder?
