First spotted three weeks into April 2002, the Whitethroat has become a regular Summer visitor, usually arriving late April and departing again in August. It has a characteristic song and display flight and, although I haven't captured the display flight yet, you can see and hear the bird on the right singing by clicking here.

There was a worrying gap in sightings of the Whitethroat in late July / early August 2003. Then, they suddenly re-appeared and this youngster was spotted being fed by its parent.

In 2005 the Whitethroats seemed to do very well. This bird was amongst a family group of four or five, feeding up ready for the long flight back to Winter quarters.
