At the Vatnahalsen hotel we were introduced to what turned out to be a traditional Norwegian snack (well, for tourists at least) - waffles, served with jam and cream. Very nice they were too.
From the hotel, it is a short walk to the nearby mountain lake. The shot of the island in the lake looks as if it could have been taken in the fjord below rather than at 800m.
The countryside was full of wildlife. The fieldfare busy gathering worms was nesting just 50m. from the front door of the hotel.
