Having ended last month's entry saying "no sign of the Green Woodpecker this month though", it was perhaps inevitable that February had hardly got underway before we were treated to a couple of visits from this large, colourful bird. It settled in the neighbour's Oak tree, but the new camera did quite a reasonable job - whilst still managing to show how effective the bird's camouflage can be! (the picture will enlarge slightly).

There were no other unusual visitors this month, but the Robins have been particularly vocal, the Starlings' plumage is growing ever more vibrant and, towards the end of the month the Blackbirds were seen dashing around with nesting material.
