A group of Turnstones appeared briefly in December 2002 but were not seen again. Then, at the end of January 2003, in the same spot on our local cliff, I came upon this solitary bird and took some pictures.

When I looked at them, it transpired that the Turnstones had still evaded the camera and I had instead got my first sighting of the Ringed Plover.

There was another isolated sighting in mid August 2003, a group of five very smart adults with five very fluffy youngsters. I can only guess that they were resting during their journey from their breeding site. Unfortunately, this time my camera was at home.
