Earliest Known Hewson Ancestor: (b. ~1773) married Jane Baldock (baptised 1780, Welton le Wold) in 1798 at Welton le Wold. Descent is via George Hewson (baptised 1811 Ashby de la Launde, Lincs., m. Frances Diass 1838 Raithby cum Hallington), William Hewson (b. 1839 Raithby, m. Mary Hildred 1859 Binbrook), to my paternal grandfather George Hewson (b. 1860 Claxby by Alford, d.1941 Wainfleet). See Hewson pedigree for more details.

General Information
My Hewson ancestors were agricultural labourers and travelled around Lincolnshire, presumably in search of work. George senior married Jane Baldock in 1798 at Welton le Wold and the family has been tracked from there, to Ashby de la Launde, Raithby, Boultham, Claxby, Cumberworth, Friskney and Wainfleet.

Fellow Researchers & Family Branches
Grandfather George had three sisters: Their married names are Rushby, Rhoades and Jackson, but I have no contact with their descendants.
George (1811) had four brothers and a sister. I am in touch with descendants of one brother (Christopher) in New Zealand.
I am also in touch with a number of other researchers into the Lincolnshire Hewsons but have yet to establish a link with any of them.
There is another Hewson family in Welton le Wold:
Benjamin and Maria, having children from 1822 to 1841. I believe this could be the Benjamin and Maria who appear on the 1851 census aged 58 and 57 who give their birthplaces as Tetney and Great Carlton respectively. There is a baptism in Tetney in 1792 of Benjamin Hewson to Edmund and Elizabeth. However, I have not yet managed to connect my George to this family.

Next Steps
1. George Hewson senior was said to be 25 at the time of his marriage (1798), but his baptism has yet to be found. There is a baptism at Strubby on the IGI in 1772 but apparently this George was buried in the same year. I now need to follow up the above-mentioned Tetney family to see if there is any sign of how Benjamin and George might be connected.
