During a pleasant but so far unremarkable walk around Keyhaven, we raised the binoculars to look at two largish birds cirling over the next lagoon. The shapes were distinctly unfamiliar, almost stork-like. Then as the birds turned, there was the bulge at the end of the bill which just shouted "Spoonbill"!
I took some distant flying shots for recognition purposes and then, after the birds had completed their display, managed a few distant shots of them on the water. All the while we were being buzzed by swifts (which you can see by enlarging this first picture.)
