Rapide Diary - January 2008

The fuselage sides are built on top of each other, separated by polythene sheet. Once all the crosspieces and diagonals are in place it forms a nice light, rigid structure.

Having laminated the leading edge of the tailplane, the rear spar was shaped and slotted prior to assembly. This meant that it was easiest to construct the tailplane vertically, because of the reducing thickness towards the tips.

With the tail surfaces hinged and dry fitted to the fuselage, the snakes were sorted out. The extra yellow snake inner serves as an ariel tube to guide the receiver antenna up into the fin.

Servo mounting is a bit unusual, but does help to keep the servos clear of the cabin area, whilst still being accessible (just) through the wing apertures.
